Add a Copilot Field to the Case Form

Copilot Fields  Premium Feature
Reach out to your Customer Success Manager or Account Executive to learn more about this feature.

You can configure copilot fields for the case form so your investigators can generate case summaries, timelines, or policy recommendations for their cases. Case IQ's AI will review the case's details, such as its overview, history, and records to draft content relevant to the case. This article covers how to add and configure copilot fields for your application's case form. See an example recommendation copilot field in the screenshot below, called "Relevant policy". For steps on using copilot fields on the case form, see Generate Content for a Case Using AI.

Generate AI Content Permissions

Users will only be able to see copilot fields on a case's page if they have "Generate AI Content" permissions. "Generate AI Content" permissions will also grant them access to Clairia, Case IQ's AI Assistant (see Start, Rename, or Delete a Chat with Clairia for details on Clairia). To update a user role's permissions, see Manage a User Role for full instructions.

Add a Copilot Field

You can add copilot fields to the case form using the Form Builder:

  1. Navigate to the Forms page in Settings.
  2. Click "Case" in the Forms grid.
  3. Click the Edit button in the Form Builder.
  4. The case form will now be in edit mode. Click the + Insert Fields button or the right arrow icon to open the Field Type sidebar.
  5. Search for "Copilot" in the Field Type sidebar.
  6. Click and hold "Copilot" in the Field Type sidebar, drag it to the Form Builder, and let go of your cursor. You can add copilot fields to any case form tab.
  7. The Copilot pop-up will be displayed, where you can fill in the following properties:
    1. Name: enter the name you want the system to use to refer to the copilot field. The field's name will be shown on grids and reports.
    2. Caption: enter text to appear beside the copilot field on the form. Adding a caption is optional. If you enter a caption, the caption text will be displayed on the record instead of the “Name” text.
    3. Copilot Type: select one of the following types of content that the AI will generate in the text area:
      1. Executive Summary: produces a high level summary of the case that includes the following sections: overview, key details, findings, actions taken, recommendations, and impact.
      2. Recommendation: suggests policies from your library based on the case's details.
      3. Timeline Generator: lists all events that have happened during the investigation.
    4. Copilot Documents: if you select "Recommendation" as the "Copilot Type", choose at least one file in your application's library on which the AI should base its recommendations in the "Copilot Documents" field.
      1. See Add or Delete a Library File for details on uploading documents to your library. Only library files which have been granted AI access will be available in the "Copilot Documents" field.
    5. Required: choose if users must complete the field before they can submit the case form. Users can fill in a copilot field by either generating content or manually entering text.
    6. Sub Text: enter guidance text to display under the copilot field. You can include URLs in sub text, for which Case IQ will automatically create a link. Make sure to include “http://” or “https://” in the link.
    7. Help Text: enter discrete guidance text, which will only be displayed when the user hovers their cursor over a question mark icon beside the field.
  8. When you have finished entering properties for the copilot field, click Save on the pop-up. The copilot field will now appear on the Form Builder.

If you are done making changes to the case form, click the Publish button on the Form Builder, so users can see the new copilot field. To continue to make changes, stay in edit mode. You can now edit the copilot field like any other dynamic field on the case form. For example, you can move the copilot field or even add display rules to control when the copilot field is available on the form. See full instructions in the Edit a Standard Record Type article under the "Fields" tab.

Edit a Copilot Field

To update a copilot field's properties, click the copilot field on the Form Builder when the form is in edit mode. The sidebar will load the properties of the copilot field. Complete your adjustments as needed and click the Save button at the bottom of the sidebar. Publish the form when you have finished your changes so users can see your updates.
