Case IQ Knowledge Base

How can we help?

What is Case IQ?

Case IQ is an investigative case management platform designed to guide and assist investigators in completing the entire workflow and activities associated with any investigation. You can track events, people, entities, or incidents that require further analysis and investigation by creating cases and profiles. To centralize all case information, you can add child records to support the investigative process documented in a case or profile. Access Case IQ in a web browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, on your desktop or mobile device.

The application is structured around a logical workflow to ensure all information is collected and there is a complete record of every action taken during an investigation. All investigation data is stored in a central repository, so users can access powerful and insightful data reporting and analysis. With secure, role-based access, users can collaborate on cases in real time.

The Case IQ Knowledge Base describes all standard functionality in the current version of your application. There are four overall actions you can complete in Case IQ:

  1. Case intake: Case IQ captures case information when users enter details in:
    1. The application's case intake form (see Add a Case In-Application).
    2. An external web portal.
    3. An email sent to Case IQ's email address (see Add a Case via Email).
  2. Case management: once a case is created, Case IQ assists you through the investigation lifecycle as you complete workflow steps (see Workflows Overview). All information is stored in the case's file (see A Case's Page) and you can create associated sub-files, called child records, to track additional case information, including:
    1. To-dos.
    2. Appointments.
    3. Notes.
    4. Files.
    5. Emails.
    6. Parties.
    7. Other record types customized for your application.
  3. Reporting: Case IQ is integrated with Yellowfin to provide comprehensive analytics, easy-to-use dashboards, and automated reports, so you can identify trends, visualize data, and share findings (see Reports Overview).
  4. Application configuration management: your Case IQ System Administrator has complete control over your application in the Settings tab to manage your configuration, rather than waiting for Case IQ to update the application code. You can configure:
    1. User access.
    2. Intake forms and dropdown values.
    3. Case workflows.
    4. Data, such as translations, templates, and flags.
    5. Key system options.
