How can we help?

Parties Overview

A party is a child record type generally used to save the details of any person associated with a case, such as a participant, witness, subject, or interviewee. The “party type” field is often used to distinguish between each of these various categories. You can add parties for a case (see Add a Party), view party records, edit party details and delete parties in Case IQ (see A Party's Page).

As profiles and parties often contain similar information, you can use a profile record to populate a New Party form and vice versa (see Add a Party: Fill in the New Party Form with a Profile and Create a Profile when Adding a Party). While profiles are standalone records, a party must be linked to a case. Organizations can use profiles like a database of individuals, objects, and places to quickly populate a party record if they are later involved in a case.

Parties vs. User Accounts

Adding a party for a person will not grant them access to Case IQ. A user account must be added by your System Administrator.
