How can we help?

Link a Profile to Another Profile

While a profile is a standalone record type that does not need to be related to another record, you can choose to connect two profiles to one another. In the example used in this article, “Laura Bousfield” and “Brock Sanders” are a couple and their profiles will be linked together.

Link a Profile

Use the following steps to link two profiles from a profile's page:

  1. Navigate to either one of the profiles' pages. In this example, Laura's profile will be used.
  2. Click the Related Profiles tab. Then, click the Link Profile button.
  3. The Linked Profile Search pop-up will be displayed, where you can enter search criteria to find another profile record to link. Use the “Search content…” search box to find specific text in any profile field or set up criteria statements for certain profile fields (see Searching in Case IQ: Create Criteria Statements for details).
  4. Click a profile record in the search results to link it to the original profile. The profile’s first and last name will be populated in the "Name" field and you may type in an explanation for linking the profile in the “Reason for Link” text box.
  5. To proceed with creating the link between the profiles, click the Add Link button. If you need to return to the search results and choose a different profile, click the Back button.
  6. Once you have added the link, the linked profile will be displayed on the Related Profiles tab of each profile's page. In this example, Brock's profile will be shown on Laura's Related Profiles tab and vice versa.

Edit a Profile Link

After creating a profile link, you can later edit the "Reason" field from either profile's page. The video clip in this example will make changes from Laura's profile.

Delete

You cannot change the profiles that are connected after creating the link. Delete the link and create a new link between the correct profiles.

  1. On the Related Profiles tab of the profile's page, click the link record.
  2. In the Edit Link pop-up, update the text in the "Reason" field.
  3. Click Save to finish updating the "Reason" text.

Delete a Profile Link

You can delete a profile link from either of the linked records' pages. The video clip in this example will delete the link from Laura's profile.

  1. On the Related Profiles tab of the profile's page, select the checkbox for the link's row in the grid.
  2. Click the Delete button that appears in the grid header.
  3. Click Confirm on the pop-up to proceed with deleting the profile link.
