How can we help?

Data Transfer Manager FAQ

Can I delete a case's records using the Data Transfer Manager without deleting the case?

You can follow the steps in Delete Records in Bulk to delete a case's records, such as parties, to-dos, or notes, without delete the case. However, if you delete the case, all of its records will be deleted too.

How many fields can I import?

 You can map up to 40 fields from your source system to Case IQ fields per data import.

What should I name my data file?

Name your data file something in the following format:

[unique file name prefix]_{arbitraryId}

For example: employees_Jan2025.csv

  • The [unique file name prefix] must be unique for the data import, meaning none of your other data imports have the same prefix. For example, if you have two different data imports for profiles, use a different prefix for their respective data files.
  • Do not include spaces or special characters and ensure all characters are in lowercase.
  • Text following the underscore (_) will not be used to identify data files, so you can enter any text characters there.
  • When you schedule the data import to run, enter the unique file name prefix for your data file, so Case IQ can find the correct file on our SFTP server for the import (see the Run or Schedule a Data Import: Schedule a Recurring Data Import article).
  • Make sure the file extension is all lowercase characters. For example, Case IQ can accept a file named "contractors_2025.csv", but not "contractors_2025.CSV".

See all data file requirements in Prepare a Data File for Import.
