How can we help?

Generate Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Backup Codes

If your organization has configured Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your application and allows access with backup codes, you can generate more backup codes for your account. You can use a backup code to log in to Case IQ if you cannot access your mobile device or authenticator app (see How do I sign in with a backup code? for details). When you initially sign up for MFA, Case IQ will create 5 backup codes for your account, but you can generate more from your profile page. You can only use each code to log in to Case IQ once.

Regenerating Backup Codes Deactivates Previous Codes

When you generate more backup codes, all your previous codes will be deactivated. This means that you cannot use any of your previous backup codes to log in to Case IQ, even if you did not use them.

To generate more MFA backup codes:

1. Click the Profile () icon in the topbar. Then, select "Profile" in the dropdown menu.

Profile option in the topbar.

2. Click the "Security" tab on your profile page.

Security tab on the profile page.

3. In the Multi-Factor Authentication section of the Security tab, click the Regenerate Backup Codes button.

Regenerate Backup Codes button on the Security tab.

No Multi-Factor Authentication section in User Profile?

If you do not see the Multi-Factor Authentication section in the Security tab of your user profile, backup codes have been disabled for your application. This means you cannot use backup codes to log in to Case IQ.

4. Enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app for your Case IQ account. Then, click the Verify And Regenerate button.

Regenerate Backup Codes pop-up.

5. You will now see your account's new backup codes, which you can copy, download, or print. Keep these backup codes in a secure place. We highly recommend storing your backup codes in a password manager if your organization uses one.

Save Backup Codes pop-up.
